God’s Healing Touch

An amazing thing happened to me on July 4th, 2008, at the Lake Hamilton Bible Summer Camp in Hot Springs Arkansas. After Ron and Glenda Pettey shared their inspiring story, I felt compelled to come forward and receive prayer for my sore, painful joints.

Deep inside, I also felt a keen desire for help with a much different problem; my inability to think and speak. In the past, no matter how I tried, I couldn’t put my thoughts into words very well. For some reason though, I mentioned only my aching joints.

  “It’s poor circulation,” said Ron and Glenda, almost simultaneously. Then, without actually praying for my physical pain, Glenda instead brought up the subject of my mind! She repeated back to me - almost word for word - what I had just been thinking earlier about not being able to express my thoughts.

Then, Ron put his hand lightly on my forehead, removed it, reached for Glenda’s hand and put it against my chest. As she began to pray, she mentioned the word "life” and suddenly, I experienced the most incredibly powerful sensation; a kind of fluttering that moved around inside my chest. This feeling so overwhelmed me that I couldn’t find the words to describe it, even when asked how I felt.

Next, Glenda offered me a cup of water and said, "This is living water." I took a few sips, but couldn’t swallow it all. Ron said, “There’s still some in the cup. You need to finish it.” When I managed to drink the last drop of the water Ron said, “there it is”, like it was done. Ron then smiled and said, “Praise the Lord”, so I too began to praise the Lord.

As I started thanking Jesus, I felt the strangest and most wonderful sensation of being lifted up on my toes and then gently let back down again. As the lifting and lowering continued, it felt so good that I just relaxed and let myself enjoy it. Later, I realized the cause: Jesus was literally getting a hold of my life and pulling me up to Him. Now, I feel SO much closer to Him, in a way I never did before.

On top of that, Jesus miraculously healed the pain in my joints; relief that continues to this day. Incredibly, He also opened the door so my mouth and my mind could find each other! Now, I can express my thoughts aloud without any trouble.

Most important of all, I’ve discovered what it’s like to be the Lord’s beloved and to be one with Him - a new level of faith that’s unspeakably real to me! I’m much more alive in Him and am beginning to understand who He really is.

Thank you Lord, for letting this happen to me and for sending Ron and Glenda here to the camp. The memory of the Lord’s touch on my heart is forever imprinted upon my mind and - Praise God - I will NEVER be the same!    Ada Andrews
